Yesterday evening, I was off to Sheraton Imperial Hotel to help out with the Cardiff Uni, Pre-departure Briefing. It was a fun time, as I met up with prospective students whom I will surely bump into next year as well as the friends I've made within the Malaysian Society. The parents were all very anxious and kept asking me a lot about life there as well as the things their sons/daughters need to prepare before going there. I explained everthing to the best of my knowledge and helped them out as much as I could. I know how they are feeling right now, being freshies venturing into an unknown place. They are all anxious, curious, worried yet excited and wait in anticipation for their departure dates.
I know for sure that they will love the life there and will have a good experience. Despite the worries of their parents, I'm sure they will turn out fine and will adapt well to the Welsh culture and the weather! hehe....Met quite a few interesting characters during my short stint as the welcoming receptionist! haha....one guy came and said he was going to Birmingham Uni, but we told him that the briefing was for Cardiff students!! Dunno from where he got the info to come yesterday, maybe he was tricked by his friend or something. Some students even got their course names wrong, writing Electrical Engineering instead of Electronic Engineering. I mean, come on, aren't you supposed to know very well what you are studying? We had a good laugh though.
A few are coming to do law from HELP this time, though I only met a few of them yesterday. Are they too lazy to attend it or what. It is the same every year for HELP law students, not many turn up at the pre-departure briefing. Too smart for their own good, huh? *sarcastic look*
